Sciatica

Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve (a bundle of nerves originating in the lower back) has excessive pressure or becomes pinched resulting in pain and discomfort that can radiate into the leg. This can happen in a number of different ways: a herniated disc, arthritic changes causing bone overgrowth, muscular entrapment or a combination of ways.

What do Symptoms look like?

The pain follows the nerve pathway from your low back, into the buttock, down the back of your thigh, and into calf & feet in more involved cases. The pain can range from a mild ache to a sharp, burning pain. Sometimes the pain will intensify with sneezing, coughing, or sitting for extended periods of time.
